Whitley County’s surviving record groups begin close to formal organization. The Files Department lists marriage ledgers and commissioners’ records from 1838. The Indiana State Library microfilm inventory lists wills, probate material, and Circuit Court records beginning in 1839. These are concrete archival series, not reconstructed examples.
